ATTENTION: CHILDREN’S MINISTRY LEADERS AND SAFE CHECK IN LEADERS:
Microsoft recently released a new update to Windows 10 called the “Creator’s Update”, focused on creative’s in organizations like graphic designers, sculptors, engineers involved in 3D printing, etc. While this release is not necessary to run any Seraphim Software, it will, overtime land on almost every Windows 10 computer in the world.
Recently we found that this update will modify the “zoom” level of paper forms that are printed by default. This has the effect of making text appear “bigger” and “zoomed” in on documents and printed tags. For Seraphim, this impacts the check in tags that are printed on worship weekends. The tags appear zoomed in and some of the information, especially on the right and bottom portions of the tag, get cropped or cut off.
For many of you, this won’t impact you this weekend, but perhaps in the next few weeks or months. It’s important for you to have the tools to solve this in case this update was to come down to your machines on a Friday, Saturday or even worse a Sunday morning.
How do I know if I need to worry about this?
The version of Windows impacted is Version 1703 or above. To discover this version number on your computers, perform the following test:
- Click the Start Menu and Type “About your PC” and press Enter or click the item that appears in the menu (System Settings in smaller print is beneath the text).
- A banner will appear showing you all the information about this computer. You only need to run this process if the version is 1703 or above.
Only install this updated version on computers that have been updated to Windows 10 Version 1703 (creators update) or above.
How do I solve this?
Zebra Companion App:
We are working on a better installation process, but for now these links will point to the programs and supporting files to keep your printing in good shape. Both the Companion App, which is used to print tags for the staffed check in stations, and Cherub, which contains the Companion App functionality in an all in one fashion, need to be updated if the Windows 10 computer is running the “Creator’s Edition”.

These files will need to be copied into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Seraphim Software directory under each program’s respective directory.
So, the Zebra companion app files from the above link will be copied to here (replacing any existing files):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Seraphim Software\ZebraCompanionApp
And the Cherub app files from the link above will be copied to here (replacing any existing files):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Seraphim Software\Cherub
This is a quick process and will take less than five minutes per computer. If your IT manager has placed permissions on who can update files on these computers (a common practice – and a good one), you may need their help to do this.
This is a relatively simple process.
First, uninstall your previous version of Cherub
Second, install the updated version of Cherub from here: http://downloads.seraphimsoftware.com/installcherub10.exe
